Heading - About
When Stephen Crafti began writing about architecture and design in the early 1990s, he didn't really think of it as a career. Inspired by architecture around him in Melbourne, Australia, Crafti was keen to share the things he saw with others, be it a building, a piece of furniture or a piece of contemporary jewellery.

After more than a decade of sharing his favourite things, and with numerous books to his name, Crafti still delights in discovering and promoting designs he considers exhilarating. The experience of living in a modernist 1950s home was the impetus for what is now a full-time obsession. "When you are fortunate enough to live with great architecture, you really are extremely privileged. And if you don't find inspiration from your own home, you can enjoy looking at the houses in my books," says Crafti.

As well as books, Crafti also writes for several of Australia's leading design magazines including Indesign, Vogue Living Australia as well as writing on fashion for Men's Style Magazine. He also contributes to Wallpaper* magazine. Crafti also has a weekly column with the Australian Financial Review.

To make architecture even more accessible, Crafti runs architectural tours. Some of Melbourne's finest contemporary design is revealed to the public. "How can you describe the expressions on people's faces as they enter an extraordinary architect designed house and discover the spaces inside," says Crafti, who is also keen to share Melbourne's architectural and design secrets with those visiting the city for the first time.

This web site aims to keep people up to date with Crafti's tour schedule and aims to highlight Crafti's new publications.

Overwhelmed with the response with the April tour. Keep an eye out for subsequent tours.
